“You are Laid-off” Vs. “You are Fired”: Understanding the Different
Massive company layoffs can be roughly translated as ''the employees being downsized''; often conveying the message of firing employees illegally which is a false perception. Though it doesn't pertain to permanent reduction in force in the company, it does adhere to the fact that certain employees have lost the job because of reasons that 'don't speak about their performance in the benefit of the company, rather, it is more about the problem of the employer and his business'' condition. Even if employee layoffs 'aren't equivalent to employee firing, it has as much negative connotation as the word ''fired' has.
Why Sapient and Publicis follow the system of layoffs and how they affect employees:
Job security is important, and keeping that in mind, it is safe to say that the Sapient layoffs are not erratic decisions. The company falls into the category of one of the most developed MNC and, generally, MNCs which deal with US-based clients are more prone to fire Indian employees because of the wholesome problem of US Visas.
If the employee doesn't understand the difference between the terms or synonymous antonyms – ''laid-off' and ''fired,' then he/she doesn't know if severance package is applicable or deserved.
If one who is entering Sapients and Publicis as a fresher and want to keep the job intact in the long run, then, they need to put no stone unturned as Sapient layoffs aren't biased strategies rather they are necessary decisions.
While firing is solely based on the faults of the concerned employee, company layoffs are juxtaposed to this fact. The tendency of employee layoffs revolves around those workers whose absence wouldn't matter much to the company anyhow.
Certain private companies over-value achievements of the company more than the satisfaction of the employee, and this needs to be improved and modified to suit the needs of both ends – employee and employer. Thankfully, Sapient is not one of them yet

Statistics show that there are rumours of fiery signs in the Publicis layoffs which to put into numbers mathematically, concludes that there are around 25% of employees feeling worried and insecure about their jobs regularly. Rumours are rumours and they aren't necessarily true always.

Another statistical survey shows that company layoffs are occurring, which makes around 12% of the employees feel unsure about the stability of their jobs. But Publicis layoffs aren't ruthless and doesn't compel workers to grasp the decision without 'if' and 'but'.
It has been fairly established without any pinch of doubt that company layoffs and employee layoffs are not cases of wrong terminations which, at times, firing an employee can be because all employees work with free will. Even then, layoffs can be veiled with illegal reasons like someone has filed a complaint of sexual harassment, and that person needs to be evicted to prevent the spread of the news.
